This policy forms part of the Terms of Service and Software License Agreement and applies to every edition of the EnjoyPDF software and to the tools provided on this website. By using the software, you agree to comply with this policy.
1. Basic principle
EnjoyPDF is a tool for correcting, localizing and protecting documents. You may only process files that you own, or that the rights holder has authorized you to change, and a modified file must not be used to make anyone believe it is the unmodified original.
2. Permitted uses
The following are typical permitted uses; the list is not exhaustive:
| Use | Example |
|---|---|
| Correcting errors | Fixing typos and outdated information in your own organization’s internal documents, manuals and templates |
| Updating information | Updating documents and templates still in use after a company or department is renamed, or an address or contact details change |
| Translation and localization | Putting translated text back in its original position in files you have the right to process |
| Protecting personal information | Removing personal and sensitive information before a file is sent out, published, submitted or given to a third party |
| De-identification | Removing information that can identify individuals for research, analysis or outsourced processing |
| Archiving and search | Correcting recognition errors in scanned archives so that they can be searched accurately |
| Security research | Good-faith security testing of the software under the Vulnerability Disclosure Policy |
3. Prohibited uses
You must not use the software, or help, encourage or allow anyone else to use it, for any of the following:
- Identity documents: forging, altering or tampering with ID cards, passports, visas, residence permits, driving licenses, employee ID cards or any other identity document, or copies or scans of them;
- Official documents: forging, altering or tampering with documents, certificates, judgments or certified copies issued by government agencies, courts, notaries, customs, tax authorities or other public bodies;
- Financial and transaction documents: forging, altering or tampering with bank statements, transaction records, proof of deposit, payslips, tax statements, invoices, receipts, bills of lading, customs declarations or contracts in order to obtain a loan, visa, lease, payment or any other benefit;
- Academic records and qualifications: forging, altering or tampering with diplomas, transcripts, qualification certificates, professional licenses or reference letters;
- Signatures and verification features: removing, covering, copying or changing signatures, seals, verification QR codes, machine-readable zones, watermarks or security features so that a modified file is mistaken for the original;
- Fraud and deception: committing fraud or scams, laundering money, making false insurance or subsidy claims, or submitting false evidence in any way;
- Infringement: infringing others’ copyright, trademark rights, privacy or other lawful rights and interests;
- Circumvention: circumventing, disabling, bypassing or attempting to bypass the software’s license validation, risk levels or other protection mechanisms, including evading risk detection by splitting pages or recombining screenshots;
- Unlawful activity: breaking any law or regulation where you are located or where the file is relevant.
Even if the file is your own, using a modified file to make others believe it is the original is a prohibited use.
4. Limits built into the software
The software assesses each file’s risk level on your computer:
- Official or certified documents (L3) are not edited in place;
- Signed or issued documents (L2) require your confirmation, and output pages are marked “edited copy”;
- These limits cannot be turned off in any edition.
The built-in limits cannot detect every situation. You are responsible for making sure your use is permitted. See Risk controls.
5. How we handle violations
5.1 Investigation: When we receive a report or discover a possible violation, we will look into it and, where necessary, contact you for an explanation. Because the software runs on your computer and does not upload documents, we cannot and will not view the content of your documents; investigations are based on the material reported and the explanation you provide.
5.2 Measures: If a violation is confirmed, we may take one or more of the following measures depending on its seriousness: a warning; suspending or ending your license without refund; refusing future purchases; keeping and providing relevant records; and pursuing liability under the law.
5.3 Cooperation with law enforcement: We will respond to lawful requests for assistance from law enforcement authorities and courts to the extent the law requires, providing the necessary information we hold (such as purchase records). We do not hold the content of your documents.
6. Reporting
If you find someone using the software for anything this policy prohibits, please tell us through Report abuse. Describe the situation and include public links; do not submit original files that contain personal information. We will reply within 5 business days.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy and will update the effective date on this page. Material changes will be announced in the software’s release notes or on the website.
