Terms of Service and Software License Agreement
Short answer: These terms are the agreement between you and the operator of EnjoyPDF covering the software and this website. They set out the license scope, trial, subscriptions and perpetual licenses, payment and refunds, your responsibility to check output, the disclaimer, limitation of liability and how disputes are resolved.
This page is a draft legal text. It will be reviewed by a lawyer before publication.
Effective date: 15 October 2026
Please read these terms before you download, install or use EnjoyPDF. In these terms, “we” means the operator of EnjoyPDF, and “you” means the individual using the software or this website, or the organization you represent.
1. Acceptance
1.1 By downloading, installing, activating or using the software, or by using this website, you agree to these terms, the Acceptable Use Policy and the Privacy Policy. Together they form the entire agreement between you and us.
1.2 If you accept these terms on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to act for that organization, and “you” also means that organization.
1.3 If you do not agree to these terms, do not install or use the software. If you have already paid, you may request a refund under section 8.
2. Definitions
- Software: the EnjoyPDF Windows desktop program, including its updates, language packs, recognition models, command-line features and accompanying documentation.
- License: the permission to use the software that we grant you under section 4.
- Your documents: the files, keyword tables, replacement text and operation records that you open, process or produce with the software.
- Website: this website and the online tools and forms it provides.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or have reached the age at which you can enter into a contract on your own where you live. The software is intended for professional and business use.
4. License
4.1 Nature of the license: The software is licensed, not sold. Provided that you comply with these terms and pay the applicable fees, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to install and use the software on Windows devices according to the license type you have obtained.
4.2 License types:
| Type | Users | Devices | Term | Updates |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free trial | 1 person | 1 device | 14 days, up to 50 pages processed in total (secure redaction does not count toward pages) | During the trial |
| Pro (annual) | 1 named user | Up to 2 devices used by that person | 12 months, renewable | All updates during the subscription |
| Perpetual | 1 named user | Up to 2 devices used by that person | Permanent use of the version purchased | Updates released within 12 months of purchase |
| Business | One named user per seat purchased | Up to 2 devices per seat | Annual, per seat | All updates during the subscription |
4.3 Internal business use: A Business license may be used only by the purchasing organization and its employees, and by contractors working for it, within the scope of that organization’s business. A seat may be reassigned to another employee when staff change, but two people may not share one seat at the same time.
4.4 License: Licensing and activation will ship with the release version and are designed to activate and validate on your device. Once provided, you must keep your license file or activation code safe and must not publish it or transfer it to anyone outside the scope of your license.
4.5 Restrictions: Except where the law expressly permits it, you must not:
- rent, lend, resell or sublicense the software, or provide it to third parties as a service;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the software;
- remove, modify or circumvent license validation, risk levels or other protection mechanisms;
- remove copyright, trademark or license notices from the software;
- use the software to develop a competing product;
- use the software in breach of the Acceptable Use Policy.
5. Third-party components and open-source licenses
The software includes third-party open-source components and recognition models, which are provided under their own licenses. They are listed in Third-party components and SBOM. These terms do not limit the rights that open-source licenses give you; these terms apply to the rest of the software.
6. Your documents
6.1 Your documents belong to you or to the relevant rights holder. We acquire no rights in your documents.
6.2 The software processes your documents on your device and does not send document content to us. The software’s network activity is described in Network behavior.
6.3 You must make sure that you have the right to process your documents, including any personal information in them, and you are responsible for your own obligations as a data controller or personal information handler.
7. Subscriptions, renewal and prices
7.1 Annual licenses (Pro and Business) run for 12 months from the date payment succeeds.
7.2 Whether a subscription renews automatically depends on the option you choose at checkout. If you choose automatic renewal, we will remind you by email at the address you registered at least 7 days before the renewal date. You may cancel at any time before the renewal date; after cancelling, you can keep using the software until the end of the current term.
7.3 We may change our prices. A change does not affect a term you have already paid for. For subscriptions that renew automatically, we will notify you at least 30 days before renewal.
8. Payment, taxes and refunds
8.1 Prices are as shown on the pricing page and the checkout page. They exclude VAT, sales tax, withholding tax and other applicable taxes, which are calculated on the checkout page.
8.2 Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider. We do not have access to your full card details.
8.3 Refunds: Within 14 days of your first purchase of Pro, a perpetual license or Business, you may request a full refund without giving a reason. For a renewal, you may request a refund within 14 days of the renewal charge, provided you have not actually processed any files in the new term. When a refund is made, the corresponding license ends.
8.4 If the law where you live gives consumers greater refund or withdrawal rights, those rights apply.
9. Updates and support
9.1 We may release fixes, improvements and new features. Annual licenses receive all updates while they are valid; perpetual licenses receive updates released within 12 months of purchase.
9.2 We provide technical support by email and through the website and will reply within a reasonable time, but we do not commit to any specific response time unless a separate written service agreement says otherwise.
9.3 We may stop supporting older versions of the software or older versions of Windows. This does not affect your right to keep using a version you have already obtained.
10. Network features and third-party services
10.1 In the current version, the software’s network activity consists only of language pack downloads and cloud AI translation that you start yourself; cloud AI translation sends the text to be translated to the third-party provider you chose. Before we add any other network feature, such as update checks, we will first describe it in Network behavior and provide a way to turn it off.
10.2 AI translation connects to a third-party platform that you choose and configure yourself. Your relationship with that platform is governed by its terms, and you must make sure that you are allowed to send the text to it. We are not responsible for the third-party platform’s services, availability or data processing.
11. Risk control mechanisms
The software assesses each file’s risk level on your device. It does not edit official or certified documents in place, and for signed or issued documents it requires confirmation and adds an “edited copy” mark. These mechanisms are part of the software and must not be treated as our judgment on, or guarantee of, the lawfulness of any particular use by you.
12. Intellectual property
The intellectual property in the software, the website and their content (excluding your documents and third-party components) belongs to us or our licensors. All rights not expressly granted to you in these terms are reserved.
13. Feedback
We may use any suggestions and feedback you give us freely, without payment or obligation to you.
14. Export controls and sanctions
You must comply with applicable export control and economic sanctions laws. You must not use the software in any country or region subject to comprehensive sanctions, or provide the software to any sanctioned person or organization.
15. Disclaimer
15.1 The software’s recognition, replacement, redaction, read-back verification and residue checks can make mistakes, and their results depend on factors such as file quality, scan resolution, fonts and writing systems. Before you use, deliver or publish an output file, you must check the preview, the read-back verification results and the residue check results.
15.2 To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the software and the website are provided “as is” and “as available”. We give no express or implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy of results or uninterrupted operation, and we do not warrant that the software meets the specific regulatory requirements of your industry or region.
16. Limitation of liability
16.1 To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential loss, including loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, or business interruption, even if we have been told such loss is possible.
16.2 To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability arising from these terms or the software is limited to the fees you actually paid for the software in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim; for a free trial, it is limited to USD 100.
16.3 This section does not exclude or limit any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, such as liability for loss caused intentionally or by gross negligence.
17. Indemnity
If a third party brings a claim against us because you breached these terms, the Acceptable Use Policy or the law, or because your documents infringe another person’s rights, you must compensate us for the reasonable losses and costs that result, including reasonable legal fees.
18. Term and termination
18.1 These terms take effect when you accept them and end when your license ends.
18.2 You may stop using and delete the software at any time.
18.3 If you seriously breach these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, we may end your license by written notice, without refund. If the breach can be remedied, we will first give you a reasonable period to remedy it.
18.4 When your license ends, you must stop using and delete the software. Sections 5, 6, 12, 15, 16, 17 and 19 continue to apply after termination.
19. Governing law and disputes
19.1 These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
19.2 Disputes should first be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If a dispute is not resolved within 30 days after one party proposes negotiation in writing, either party may bring proceedings in a court of competent jurisdiction in Malaysia.
19.3 If mandatory consumer protection laws where you live give you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts or to rely on your local law, this section does not affect those rights.
20. Notices
We will send you notices by the email address you registered when buying or contacting us, through messages in the software, or on this website. You can send notices to us at the email address listed on the Contact us page.
21. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms and will update the effective date on this page. We will give you at least 30 days’ notice of material changes on the website or by email. If you keep using the software after a change takes effect, you are treated as accepting the revised terms. If you do not accept them, you may stop using the software and request a pro rata refund for any paid period you have not used.
22. General
- Entire agreement: These terms, the Acceptable Use Policy and the Privacy Policy form the entire agreement between the parties on this subject and replace any earlier oral or written arrangements. If the parties have signed a separate written agreement, that agreement prevails.
- Severability: If any part of these terms is invalid, the rest remains in effect.
- Assignment: You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these terms without our written consent. We may transfer these terms as part of a business reorganization or sale, and will notify you if we do.
- Force majeure: A party is not liable for failing to perform because of events beyond its reasonable control.
- No waiver: If we do not exercise a right, that does not mean we have waived it.
- Language: These terms are provided in several languages. If the language versions differ, the Simplified Chinese version prevails.
