An offline Adobe Acrobat alternative for correcting scans
Short answer: Acrobat is a full PDF editor that covers editing, forms, signatures, comments and conversion. If what you mainly need is precise text correction on scans, batch replacement from a keyword table, and redaction before sending, EnjoyPDF focuses on those tasks and processes files on your computer.

What each one fits

|---|---|
| Everyday editing, forms, e-signatures, collaborative comments | Acrobat |
| Mac, iPad, web | Acrobat |
| Converting scans to editable Word or Excel | Acrobat |
| Changing a few words on a scan while keeping the rest of the original image | PDF Text Replacer |
| Replacing dozens of terms at once from one keyword table, or processing a whole folder | PDF Text Replacer |
| Read-back verification of every change in the output file, with an operation record | PDF Text Replacer |

Different approaches to scans
Adobe’s help explains that when Acrobat edits a scan, it first runs text recognition, converts the scanned content into editable text, and matches the new text to the original font as closely as possible. PDF Text Replacer does not convert the page. It erases and redraws only the target text, and the other pixels stay as in the original image. For the differences, see Full-page OCR reflow vs in-place correction.
Price
As of 2026-10-12, Adobe’s US website lists Acrobat Pro on an annual plan billed monthly at US$19.99 per month. Actual prices depend on Adobe’s website and your region. PDF Text Replacer pricing will be announced at the official release. See Pricing and licensing.
Switching
You do not need to replace your current tools. First, use the PDF Text Replacer trial on a batch of the scans you handle most often, compare the output and the time it takes, and then decide which tasks go to which tool.
FAQ
Can EnjoyPDF fully replace Acrobat?
No. EnjoyPDF does not do forms, e-signatures, collaborative comments or format conversion, and has no Mac version. It focuses only on text correction on scans, batch replacement and secure redaction.
Can I use both?
Yes. Many teams use Acrobat for everyday editing and signatures, and EnjoyPDF for batch corrections on scans and redaction before sending.
