How to verify a downloaded installer (SHA-256)
Short answer: Run Get-FileHash in PowerShell to compute the installer's SHA-256 and compare it character by character with the value on the download page. If they match exactly, you have the same file we published.
Steps
- Open PowerShellHold Shift and right-click an empty area of the folder containing the download, then choose "Open PowerShell window here", or search for PowerShell in the Start menu.
- Compute SHA-256Run the Get-FileHash command with the installer file name as the argument and SHA256 as the algorithm.
- CompareCompare the output Hash with the SHA-256 published on the download page. All 64 characters must match (case does not matter).
- RunRun the installer only once they match. If Windows shows a SmartScreen warning, choose "More info → Run anyway".
Command
Get-FileHash .\PDFTextReplacer-2.0.0.exe -Algorithm SHA256
Example output:
Algorithm Hash Path
--------- ---- ----
SHA256 (64 hexadecimal characters) C:\Users\...\PDFTextReplacer-2.0.0.exe
Use the file name and hash of the current version as published on the download page.
Why check
SHA-256 is a “fingerprint” of the file’s content: a difference of one byte gives a completely different result. If the value you compute matches the one we published, you know the file was not damaged during download and has not been repackaged or modified by a third party.
Download only from this site. The hashes for each version are also listed in the changelog and served over HTTPS.
SmartScreen warning
The current version is not yet code-signed, so Windows may show “Windows protected your PC” when you run it. Once you have confirmed that the SHA-256 matches the download page, click “More info”, then “Run anyway”.

FAQ
What if the hash does not match?
Do not run the file. Download it again from the official site; if it still does not match, contact us. Files repackaged by third-party download sites have different hashes.
Can I do this without PowerShell?
Yes. Use the SHA-256 file checker on this site. It computes the hash locally in your browser, and the file is not uploaded.
Is the installer digitally signed?
The current version is not yet code-signed, so the file properties have no "Digital Signatures" tab. Please check the file against the SHA-256 published on the download page.
