Law firms and in-house legal teams
Short answer: Before legal documents leave the firm, personal information about parties and third parties often has to be removed. EnjoyPDF detects, removes and rewrites on your own computer, checks for residue after saving, and its operation record lists only categories and positions, so you can later explain what was done.
Where outgoing legal documents carry risk
- ID numbers, addresses and phone numbers of parties in pleadings, defenses and evidence;
- Personal information about third parties;
- Author names, internal firm paths and revision history in file properties;
- Annotations, internal discussions and attachments.
How to do it
- Use “Secure redaction” mode, select the ID types you need, and add the parties’ names as custom keywords.
- After “Find”, check each match. The results list always shows matches partly masked.
- Save: text and hidden layers are removed, pixels are covered, the whole file is rewritten, and residue is checked automatically.
- Keep the operation record (manifest.json) in the case file. It contains only categories, page numbers and positions.
What it does not do
PDF Text Replacer is not for changing the content of evidence or legal documents. Signed and issued documents are detected and require confirmation; official or certified documents are not edited in place. See Risk controls.

Bodies such as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit have published redaction guidance for electronic filings. All of it stresses that visual covering alone is not enough. The rules of your jurisdiction and court take precedence.
FAQ
Why is a black box not enough?
When you only draw a black box, the text underneath is often still in the file and can be selected, copied or found by search. Scans also often carry an invisible layer of recognized text. Secure redaction removes this content and rewrites the file.
Can I change the content of evidence?
You should not, and that is not what this software is for. Signed, issued and official documents are detected by the risk levels and editing is restricted. For law firm work, use secure redaction only.
